Chamber Music
From the Madeira Classical Orchestra follow up other groups formed by the orchestra's musicians.
Two String Orchestra’s
This Orchestra aims to interpret pieces for small string orchestra of composers of the 20th and 21st centuary. Within the repertoire played by this group, we find from national composers like Joly Braga Santos, Vianna da Mota, to European composers like Turina, Britten among others. In a lighter language, the Ensemble XXI has in its repertoire pieces by Scott Joplin and Duke Ellington. Made up of elements of the strings section of the Classical orchestra, the Ensemble XXI has played in all the venues of Madeira and Porto Santo, as well as participating in the Madeira Music Festival.
Composition: 6 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos and 1 Double bass.
The Madeira Camerata was created in October 1997, as part of the Orquestra Clássica Madeira, and has performed numerous concerts in the region, with resident soloists and guest conductors, including Jaap Schröder, Luís Izquierdo, Roberto Pérez, Milko Pravdic, António Carrilho, Bárbara Dória, Filipe Pinto Ribeiro, Eliana Matos, among others. The main objectives of this instrumental formation are, on one hand, the interpretation of repertoire for string orchestra and, on the other hand, the promotion of Portuguese music written for this type of formation. Under the artistic guidance of the Madeiran violinist Norberto Gomes, the Madeira Camerata has toured the country, Spain, and Asia, having performed in several halls, including the Centro Cultural de Belém, Auditório Nacional de Madrid, and also performed two concerts at the Macau Arts Festival.

Eight Groups of Chamber Music
“Atlantic” String Quartet
With the purpose of interpreting the immense repertoire written for this formation over the last 300 years of the history of music, the Atlantic String Quartet is composed of instrumentalists from various origins and schools, having been created within the Classical Orchestra of Madeira. Its composition allows mobility and adaptability and can be performed in various situations. His repertoire includes pieces by Corelli, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Borodin, and Dvorak, among others.
Composition: 2 violins, 1 violas, 1 cello.
“OCM Soloists” Quintet
It is formed by the soloist instrumentalists of the Wind sections of the Madeira Classical Orchestra. Having performed over the last decade in the various seasons of the Madeira Classical Orchestra it has in its diverse repertoire piece by various national and international composers, as well as adaptations and arrangements of pieces of reference from various periods of the history of music. Their concerts are characterized by readings faithful to the music, providing moments of high artistic level to their audience, as well as moments of relaxation with popular repertoires that also integrate their programs. Composition: 1 Oboe, 1 Flute, 1 Clarinet, 1 Bassoon and 1 Horn.
Wind Quintet “Atlântida”
It is formed by instrumentalists from the wind ensemble, 4 from the woodwind family and 1 from the brass family of the Madeira Classical Orchestra. Having the opportunity to perform together with their instruments, this ensemble interprets original pieces for this formation by various composers of the last century, as well as performing orchestrations of great themes that have remained in the history of music as a reference of a certain period in the history of classical music composition.
Composition: 1 Oboe, 1 Flute, 1 Clarinet, 1 Bassoon and 1 Horn.
The MadBrass 4, 5 and 7 are groups of the Madeira Classical Orchestra, originating from the brass section. They explore to the maximum the sonorities of their instruments in the interpretation of 20th century pieces, original for this instrumental formation, as well as arrangements and adaptations of reference pieces of great composers in the history of music, giving them another color sound through the timbres and brilliance of the power of their musical instruments.

The Septet of Brass and Percussion is a group of chamber music consisting of instrumentalists of the Madeira Classical Orchestra, that offers concerts with a selection of inspired pieces of musical for wind instruments and percussion.
Wind Ensemble - Octet
The Wind Octet of Madeira Classical Orchestra, includes all the elements of the woodwind sections and some brass of this orchestra. Besides being able to approach a vast original repertoire, as well as adaptations of works of reference in the history of music for this formation. Their work together potentiates a better performance in the work of the Orchestra's Tutti. Their concerts are characterized by rigorous interpretations that provide the audience with musical moments of excellence.

Improvisation “Musical Happening”
This group offers a moment of musical creativity par excellence! Their programs include a mix of improvisation and experimentalism, making their concerts unique in terms of sound, format and content. Occasionally they count on the collaboration of different musicians who provide the concerts with special sounds and sound effects through the countless possibilities of their instruments. Their performances invite the audience to a singular experience, enjoying a new and unexpected atmosphere of rhythmic and sonorous environments.
