Sense of Belonging and Connection!

It is with this motto that we embark upon the 2026/2027 Season of our Orchestra. Sixty-three years of musical life form part of our history — decades of ambition, research, programming and performance.

For decades, we have remained committed to finding the best ways to convey the power of music, encouraging our audiences to discover, connect with and embrace the power of this great art form.

Music, as a sublime and intangible force, capable of conveying profound and, at times, almost divine inspiration, lies at the very heart of our existence as an Orchestra. It is our responsibility as musicians to protect, respect and elevate this legacy, which has been generously passed down to us through the centuries, within the scope of our professional responsibilities.

In an outermost region such as ours, this responsibility is even greater. We are fully aware of the priorities and needs of a region with our particular characteristics. Yet it is precisely the resilience that defines us that enables us to dream, to fulfil the needs of our souls and to follow our passion, transforming obstacles into tangible achievements and strengthening the present for the benefit of our society.

It is our history that has shaped and defined our essence. Through dedication and commitment to the Madeira Classical Orchestra, our Region has distinguished itself in the promotion of musical culture, offering its residents and visitors musical experiences across a wide range of aesthetic languages. In doing so, we continue to fulfil the vision that the Orchestra — also as a symbol and representative of our autonomy — has dreamed of, defined and continues to bring to life.

As a cultural institution, both conscious of its responsibilities and ambitious in its aspirations, the Orchestra invites our entire audience to accompany and help drive this journey forward, so that together we may allow music to reach its highest level of excellence.

It is up to each and every one of us to elevate music, through the Orchestra, to a level of excellence, fully aware of the scale of responsibility and the balance that this demands of us.
